This instrument utilizes photo correlation spectroscopy and the analyses are based on the principles of dynamic light scattering (6 light scattering angles are available). The N5 can determine particle sizes in the range of 3 nm – 3 µm by estimation of the diffusion coefficients for the particles in solutions.In addition, the molecular weights of polymer particles including biological molecules and enzymes may be determined. A fingerprint analysis is also possible for determination of contaminating particles of greater or unwanted sizes.
